Hello U5 and U6 Soccer Parents!

Our AYSO Board is excited that your children will be participating in AYSO Region 889's Fall 2010 SEASON!  As we enter the season we'd like to familiarize you with the Jamboree Program.

What is Jamboree?

The Jamboree Program is one in which our youngest players are introduced to the game of soccer under the leadership of a "Master Coach", within their own team and coach framework.  Region 889's Master Coach, Nathan White, has been professionally trained in the UK and is a licensed professional coach for children.  Specifically, the Master Coach gathers with teams to introduce the players to the age-appropriate skills they should learn at this age; i.e., dribbling, shooting, throw-ins, etc.

The teams gather together as a unit and Coach White introduces skills to the team coaches, who, in turn, work with their teams to help the players learn important basics of soccer.  This training session lasts approximately 30-40 minutes.  Afterward, your teams move into the fields and play their traditional games, 3V3.

Our Jamboree Program is designed to run five to six weeks...after which, traditional games only will be held for the remainder of the season.

Why Jamboree?

Every decision, every rule, and every program within AYSO has "what's good for kids" as its basis. Every girl and boy stepping on a soccer field for the first time can have fun. AYSO's "child-first" approach also makes it one of the finest player development programs.

With children’s natural joy in running and kicking, Jamboree Soccer builds on these two skills and adds in techniques to control the ball and work as a team.

Saturday plans

AVCP will be busy!  We have adjusted the schedule to try and stagger games and minimize parking problems.  Regional Board members will also be at the park throughout the day.  Below are some tips for opening day:

  1. Look for a parking spot. Sometimes parking will be easy, other times, not so much.  It's part of living in Aliso Viejo!
  2. If you have trouble finding a spot, look for your child's coach at the entrance to the park by the school...he/she will be waiting to gather the team and go to their training.  An easy way to spot your team is to look for a matching team uniform!
  3. Find your players now gathered with Coach White and watch as they learn a new skill.
  4. Transition with the team to your assigned game fields.  Enjoy the game and celebrate the kids having fun!

On the league schedule, you will see two start times...one is for the training session with Coach White, the second is for game time.  Remember that the training begins first, so your team will not move to the game fields until after training.

Thank you!

Implementing the Jamboree program was new for our region Fall 2009.  We may encounter a few bumps as we strive to make this concept a great experience for your children.  Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility.
