Hello Region 889 Referees -

The season starts with the first two games on Friday, Sept. 6 (right after the Carnival ends) and continuing through the weekend. Please start scheduling your games in MatchTrak. Please note, some games for the older divisions have not been scheduled yet and/or are subject to change.

Pre-Season Referee Meeting - Sept. 3, 6:45 - 8:15 pm @ Aliso Viejo Middle School Library

Certified Referees earn a Region point for attending. Up to 3 points per team max. We will cover some general interest topics as well as review the recent law changes, plus discussion of U8 Guidelines, Handball calls, open Q&A and more!

It will be hot this upcoming weekend. Ensure you have plenty of water and sunscreen. If necessary, allow for extra time during substitutions for the players to get water. Allow players to sub out for the remainder of a quarter or the game if they are not feeling well -  AR's be sure to keep track of this during the game.

Notes:

Extra/SCEDSL games must have a Referee scheduled by Friday at Noon or they forfeit.

If you need a mentor, please request when you schedule. We will do our best to provide one, but might not be able to help everyone due to scheduling conflicts and mentor availability.

Fall Season Reminders

• Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to wear their 2024 Coach ID Card at each match. (File a Match Report, if this is not the case)

• Pre-printed names on lineup cards are required (File a Match Report, if this is not the case) - numbers can be handwritten.

• Handwritten players are ineligible and may not participate.

• DOGS/PETS are NEVER allowed at AYSO games, practices, or events.

• 3/4 play rule is in effect for all non-Extras teams (No player may play 4 quarters until ALL teammates have played at least 3 quarters (including goalkeeper). File a Match Report and email me the lineup card, if this is not the case.

Reminder: File a Match Report the same day when a caution, send off, injury, etc. happen during your game.
