HERE ARE THE STEPS TO BECOME A REFEREE

Please note that every Volunteer (even youth volunteers) must have their own AYSO account that is tied to a unique email account for that volunteer.  Family members cannot manage their spouse's or kid's volunteer role from their own parent account, where they might enroll their child as a player.  Any volunteer role that you sign up for on your account is YOUR volunteer role. *****   

Step 1 - Fill Out A Volunteer Application Form on our website at www.ayso889.org

1) Log in to our website at www.ayso889.org (Sports Connect) and register as a volunteer. Click on forgot my password for a password reset of your existing account. If you don't yet have an account, create a new one by clicking on "Register Now."

 2) Complete the volunteer registration information. Click on Volunteer > Find Volunteer Roles > 2021 Fall View Divisions > Choose a division where you want to credit your volunteer work (if you have no preference, just click on U6 Boys or U6 Girls. Check a box and click View Selected Opportunities at the bottom of the page. Click on the Select button under Referee (or Youth Referee, if applicable) and then > Continue. Complete all of the required fields, and View/Accept all buttons in the Additional Information Sections and > Continue. Click through until you are able to e-sign the form and click "Submit."

3) Adults are required to complete a background check. You will receive an email asking you to click the link to authorize. Your VAF will not be complete until you have submitted your background check.

Step 2 - Take the online "Regional Referee Training Course" in eTrainU (AYSOU). 

The way to access eTrainu is from the AYSO889.org site.  When logged on to your volunteer account in AYSO889.org,
click on volunteer, and then click on the eTrainU (AYSOU) button:

This 2-3 hour online video training must be taken before the in-person class. Register for the course on eTrain you (using the same instructions from above), under the "Online Courses" tab, and then Refereeing Courses > and take the Regional Referee Training course.

Step 3 - Attend a Live in-person "Regional Referee Online Companion Course. 

This class can be found in eTrainU as well.

Step 4 - Safe Haven Training & Concussion Training

1) These two online video modules are required for all volunteers in ayso. 
2) Access them via eTrainu and Click on Online Courses > Safe Haven Courses > and take the AYSO's Safe Haven, CDC Heads UP Concussion Training, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Online Courses (approximately 30 - 40 minutes each). These three classes must be retaken every 3 years, so if your last certification date was prior to 2019, then please retake.
3) Once completed, save the e-certificates to your computer, as we may ask you to email it to us, if it does not show up.
Lastly, we will Send You A Link To Access Our Games Scheduling System at www.Matchtrak.com
Tell your coaches that you have completed these requirements so they can input your volunteer information into your team's profile page. This is important so that we can make sure no teams fall through the cracks in terms of referee coverage during the season.

Step 5 - Live Scan fingerprinting for adult volunteers.
 
Please do a search online for a Live Scan that is convenient for you, and let me know when you are ready to do this, as we can provide a code for payment. 
Otherwise, the region is happy to reimburse all adult volunteers for this expense.  The reimbursement form can be found on the AYSO889.org website,
under "MORE." 

Step 6 - Safe Sport for adult volunteers. 

Please complete the online Safe Sport training.  This can be found on the Volunteer section of your AYSO account, when you are logged on to your account on the AYSO889.org website:
